Below the portrait placed etched stroke the author's signature and date: Taras Shevchenko. 1860.

Etching is made by photographs 1858 – 1860's, a copy of which is the State Museum Shevchenko USSR (Kyiv) (inv. f – 77). In the State Museum of Taras Shevchenko kept another copy of the same etching (inv. number g – 676).
