Pictures made at the 25 th sheet, later attached to the album of 1840 – 1844. Top right is marked in pencil: 25 (sheet number); right below the ink: 46 (number of page in album) and illegible inscription in pencil. Middle diagonal pencil inscription in capital letters: SHOV.

The figure – professor of anatomy I.V. Buyalsky during a lecture on osteology, five students sat listening to an explanation. The page also contain an outline of some figures not connected with the main storyline, and men profiles.

Shevchenko January 10, 1841 was enrolled in the list of students who can listen anatomy course [Taras Shevchenko: The documents and materials for the biography. 1814 – 1861. – K., 1982. – p. 29 – 32. – № 65]. In the Buyalsky's note to the Board of the Academy of Art from June 26, 1841 indicated that from late January of that year he read a short course of general anatomy and osteology and made examination. The figures, therefore, performed in the first half of 1841.

About Buyalsky's lecture Shevchenko mentioned later in the story "Artist: "I began to visit anatomical lectures by professor Buyalsky. He is now reads skeleton".

First described by V.P. Gorlenko called "Scene of university lectures" [Gorlenko V. // Kievan antiquity. – 1886. – № 2. – P. 406].

Reproduced for the first time in 1932 by A.P. Novitsky named "Anatomical class"[T. Shevchenko Complete Works. – [Kharkiv, 1932. – T. 8]. – p. 7. – № 38. – Tab. 126].

With the title "Professor Buyalsky during a lecture of Osteology" mentioned in article 1953 by B.S. Butnyk–Seversky [Butnyk-Seversky B.S. On studying painting heritage T.H. Shevchenko in preparation for the publication of his works // Bulletin of the Acad. Sci. of UkrSSR. – 1953. – № 6. – p. 126], entitled "The lecture on the anatomy" 1961 in PZT [T. Shevchenko Complete Works: in 10 volumes. – K., 1961. – Vol. 7, bk. 2. – p. 10. – № 195].

Storage sites within the Album: no later than 1885 was received by V. Tarnowskі; from 1899 – V. Tarnowski's Chernihiv museum of ukrainian antiquities, 1925 – Chernihiv Historical Museum, 1933 – Taras Shevchenko institute; since 1936 – Shevchenko Institute of ukrainian literature.
