Left – sketch of chess game on deck schooner. The fact that chess could be on the schooner "Constantine" not earlier than summer 1849, shows a letter A. Butakov to parents:
"Raim revive, among other things, foreign trade, in late December [1848] came from Bukhara small caravan… I ordered the owner, who is going to come to spring again with a fresh supply, so he brought me a carpet and chess…" [Berg L. S., Essays on the History of Russian geographical discoveries, M.-L., 1949, p. 210].
