The village Mezhyrich, Kaniv district, Kyiv Province, Shevchenko, by his own testimony and materials for investigators, stayed from 5 to 12 July 1859 [see "T. Shevchenko in the documents and materials", K., 1950, p. 220, 226 – 228]. This is the basis for dating the picture.
