Barclay de Tolly Michael B. (1761 – 1818) – Prince, the Russian commander, hero of Patriotic War in 1812, General Field Marshal.
To create this portrait of Shevchenko could use portraits – painted from life in 1816 and engraved by Charles Zenf and portrait by English painter George Dawe made for the Military Gallery of the Winter Palace, engraving by Henry Dawe and other engravers.
D.A. Rovinsky, considering the engraved portraits commander, made after the original by Zenf, give a description of a portrait, placed in N.A.Polevoj's book, without mentioning names of artist and engraver [Rovinsky D.A.
