A. I. Zakrevska (born 1822) – wife of P. A. Zakrevsky.

In a letter to V. A. Zakrevsky of 10 Nov 1843 from Yagotyn Shevchenko wrote: "A beautiful Anna say that once I get better and sew sheepskin coat, now and come with brushes and paints for a week…"

Shevchenko could make a portrait of A. I. Zakrevska and her husband only from 9 to 23 Dec 1843, when the left Yagotyn for two weeks [«Russian propylaes», vol. II, M., 1916, p. 203 – 221].

In 1911 exposed in an exhibition of Shevchenko's art works in Kiev (catalog, № 37);

in 1939 – on the Republican Shevchenko's anniversary exhibition in Kiev (catalog, № 142);

in 1951 – the exhibition Art of the Ukrainian SSR in Moscow (Catalogue, p. 104).

Left at the bottom – oil paint (copied from the original) date and signature: 1843 // Shevchenko.

March 10, 1930 picture transferred from the Literary Museum of the Institute of Russian Literature of the USSR ("Pushkin's house", Leningrad) to the Institute of Taras Shevchenko (Kharkiv) as the work of Shevchenko and as Shevchenko's original work it was listed in the inventory of paintings in T. Shevchenko's Gallery (Kharkiv). In the State Museum of Taras Shevchenko (Kyiv) this portrait was listed as the work of doubtful Shevchenko's authorship.

Artistic and technical level of performance in comparison to the original portrait of A. I. Zakrevska, some difference of colors and copied the date and signature from the mentioned portrait deny authorship of the work of Shevchenko.
