Right at the bottom in pencil the date and signature of the author: 1843. December at night // T. Shevch[enko].

V.A. Zakrevsky (1807 – 1858) – one of the owners of the village Berezova Rudka, Pyryatyn county, Poltava province (now Pyryatyn district, Poltava region).

In the catalogue of Shevchenko's art works, exhibited in galleries, and some other authors entitled "Cartooning for landowner V.A. Zakrevsky" [see. Product, X., 1934, p. 25].

In Berezova Rudka Shevchenko also drew portrait of P. A. Zakrevsky – V. A. Zakrevsky's brother and his wife.
