Dated approximately the first half of 1843 according to other sketches in this series.

First mentioned in 1932 and reproduces by A.P. Novitsky called "Charles XII at dying Mazepa" [Shevchenko T. Complete Works. – [X., 1932. – T. 8]. – P. 6. – № 26. – T. 150].
