Taras Shevchenko. Self-portrait in a dark suit.
[Petersburg]. [Not later than 14 Mar] 1860.
Paper, etching, aquatint 13.6 × 10.2; 16.1 × 12.5; (31 × 21.5 cm).

Right below placed aquatint monogram Ш, below portrait etched the author's signature and date: Taras Shevchenko. 1860. On the blank bottom margin of the sheet placed author's inscription by red pencil: To Fedor Fedorovich Lvov in memory of Taras Shevchenko on 14 March 1860.

Etching execution date specified on the basis of an inscription.

In the State Museum of Taras Shevchenko (Kyiv) kept two copies of the etching described here (inv. number g-881, g-674).

There is a print of the same etching in first state.

Previous storage: property F.F.Lvov, the State Russian Museum, Leningrad.
