The nature of depicted terrain and manner of execution drawing is similar to landscapes numbered by Shevchenko and drawn during Kara-Tau expedition (see number 74, 75).

The literature is known as the "Steppe upland" ["Catalogue of V. Tarnowski's museum of ukrainian antiquities", Vol. II, Chernigov, 1900, p. 186, № 344], "Hillock in the desert" [A. Novitsky, Taras Shevchenko as a painter, Lviv – Moscow, 1914, p. 61, № 322].
