Taras Shevchenko. In the apiary.…

Taras Shevchenko. In the apiary. "Blind" ("Captives"). Near the well. Sketches. Pencil on paper (26,2 × 37,4 cm). [Not before May 1843]. Taras Shevchenko National Museum, inv. number g – 434.

Right at the top of a pencil inscription by Shevchenko's hand is not read. On the bottom edge of the sheet in the center of the ink inscription: Father in apiary, hives hollow, and little children carrying him dinners.

In the center – a sketch for the painting "In the apiary". To the left of it below – sketch of picture "Blind", right – outline composition to the unknown pattern (perhaps that is the image of the well in Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, where Shevchenko drawn sketches in 1843, there is similar picture).

Dated by the same motives as the oil painting "In the apiary".

On the back some outline figures and heads of the old man.
